Breast augmentation has steadily increased in popularity over the past 35 years and is now regarded as a highly safe procedure capable of producing excellent, natural-looking results. While breast augmentation surgery was controversial as recently as 10 to 15 years ago, a decade of intense scientific scrutiny has led to much wider acceptance of the procedure. Patients interested in breast augmentation surgery with implants can contact our practice in New Hampshire (NH), serving Maine, Vermont, and all of New England today to schedule a private consultation with Dr. Richard Zeff.
“I would highly recommend Dr. Zeff to anyone looking for cosmetic surgery. I was so nervous but Dr. Zeff and his staff answered all my questions thoroughly and helped me feel calm and prepare. My breast surgery was in March of 2008. I healed very well and best of all my results are wonderful. I love it! I feel great about the choice I made!”

Saline implants are silicone shells filled with sterile salt water transferred directly from IV solution bags, whereas silicone gel breast implants are filled with an elastic gel. Both saline and silicone gel breast implants are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This approval means that these breast implants have been rigorously researched and tested for safety. Saline breast implants are FDA approved for women 18 years of age or older, and silicone gel implants are FDA approved for women 22 years of age and older.
Dr. Zeff uses both silicone gel breast implants and saline breast implants at his plastic surgery center serving New Hampshire (NH), Maine, and surrounding areas. While saline implants are less expensive and require a smaller incision, gel breast implants generally look and feel more natural. Dr. Zeff is an experienced plastic surgeon who will discuss the differences between these types of breast implants in detail during your initial breast surgery consultation at our Stratham, NH location.
“Dr. Zeff is the best surgeon I could have chosen. I could’ve gone to Boston to pay an extraordinary amount of money for a doctor I didn’t know on a patient level. He is extremely personable and does amazing work! I went to him for a breast augmentation...People who know me and know of my surgery say they would have never known I got breast implants because they look so real and natural. They are the perfect size for my body. I am beyond pleased with Dr. Zeff and his staff. They are all friendly and have great knowledge of what they are doing. I am absolutely going to recommend him to anyone I know who is looking into plastic and cosmetic surgery. Thank you Dr. Zeff.”

Dr. Zeff uses the most advanced augmentation methods so that patients can benefit from the most natural-looking results possible after breast surgery. An important influence on just how natural the results of breast augmentation will be is a phenomenon known as "capsular contracture." This occurs as a result of the body forming scar tissue around the breast implants. In rare cases, this scar shrinks, making the breast augmentation more obvious. For some women, however, this can be a desirable side effect, simulating the "wonderbra" lift.
During the breast augmentation procedure, Dr. Zeff makes small incisions near the breast area and inserts either a saline implant or silicone gel implant into the desired location. While there are several possible incisions through which breast implants can be inserted, Dr. Zeff prefers either the inframammary crease (beneath the breast) or periareolar (the line around the areola) techniques. With these methods, the augmentation incisions are very small and relatively subtle.
The implant is placed either beneath or over the muscle; Dr. Zeff and the patient decide together which location will ensure optimal breast augmentation results. At our practice serving New Hampshire (NH), Maine, and areas throughout New England, we work with each patient to provide personalized treatment and exceptional care.
Breast augmentation is performed as an outpatient procedure. There is post-operative pain for several days, which is generally controlled with prescribed pain medications. We usually recommend a week off for recuperation, or longer if your breast implants surgery is combined with other cosmetic procedures, such as liposuction or a tummy tuck.
We look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to contact our plastic surgery center today if you are interested in learning more about breast augmentation surgery with breast implants. Our New Hampshire (NH) practice serves residents throughout Maine, Vermont, and the entire New England region.
