There are numerous ways of dealing with problem skin and, generally, the more severe the problem, the more aggressive the solution. When the blemishes, wrinkles, scars, and brown spots can’t be reduced by conventional treatments, one must consider a more intensive approach such as laser skin resurfacing.
These are all usually performed by a physician and involve the removal of undesirable outer layers of skin, which are replaced during healing by new, smoother skin. Naturally, these procedures require a high degree of control and finesse for greater success, which is why Dr. Zeff prefers to use the CO2 laser. He has performed hundreds of laser skin resurfacing procedures and feels the laser gives him excellent depth control, thus minimizing complications.
While the results are usually good to excellent, there is a period of healing that lasts seven to 12 days. At this point, the skin is healed and noticeably smoother but still quite pink – a phase that can last weeks to months. Fortunately, make-up usually hides this well.
Laser skin resurfacing is an outpatient procedure and is done with sedation anesthesia under the supervision of a board certified anesthesiologist at our New Hampshire (NH) center. To learn more about laser skin resurfacing, or to schedule an initial consultation, please contact our practice today.
Unlike varicose veins, which are larger, deeper, and can bulge out of the skin, spider veins are characterized by short, spider-like vein formations. While not usually a health issue, spider veins can be uncomfortable, as well as unsightly. To find out how we can help you reduce the visibility of spider leg veins, contact us today.
If you are self conscious about the level of redness in your face, you may have rosacea and not even know it. A common disorder, rosacea affects nearly 14 million Americans, but most are not even familiar with the disorder. Symptoms of rosacea include everything from tiny blood vessels, small red spots, tiny veins or generalized redness of the nose, cheeks and other areas of the face.
To find out how Dr. Zeff can help you cope with facial rosacea please contact our New Hampshire (NH) plastic surgery center today.
Sclerotherapy is the introduction of a sclerosing agent into a vein using a small needle. Your doctor will clean the area, and then inject a solution into the affected veins. During the procedure, you may feel a slight prick as the needle is inserted and a burning sensation as the solution is injected. The solution replaces the blood and naturally causes the vein to decompose and disappear over a period of several days to a few weeks. After one area is injected, the doctor will proceed to the next area. Occasionally, additional treatments may be required in order to complete the collapse of the entire vein. If you have extensive veins requiring treatment, multiple sessions may be recommended. Each treatment is usually limited to 15 - 30 minutes.
