Labiaplasty

What Is Labiaplasty?

Our practice offers a range of advanced treatments to enhance vaginal health and aesthetics. Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure designed to improve enlarged or asymmetrical labia. Labiaplasty re-contours the affected area to improve aesthetics and to achieve greater comfort in and out of clothing.

Our experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Richard Zeff, utilizes advanced techniques and emphasizes the most natural-looking outcome possible. In conjunction with our skilled medical team, he is dedicated to providing unparalleled care in a compassionate, welcoming environment.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Labiaplasty?

It’s important to note that aesthetic preferences vary dramatically from person to person. What’s considered “normal” is a broad category, and within which most women will fit. However, you should not have to feel discomfort, either physical or emotional, as a result of the way your intimate areas are shaped. The length of your labial tissue is determined by many factors, including genetic predisposition, pregnancy, weight loss, menopause, and the natural aging process. If you experience pain during exercise, daily activities, or sexual intercourse, or if you feel self-conscious during social or romantic situations, vaginal rejuvenation may be right for you. Drs. Zeff can help you determine if this treatment is appropriate for your needs and goals during a private consultation.

What Happens During the Labiaplasty Procedure?

Every woman’s anatomy and cosmetic goals are unique. As a result, there are many techniques available to address the broad array of concerns that can stem from the vaginal area. One or more may be recommended to achieve your desired outcome.

Labia Minora Reduction

In this technique, excess tissue from the inner lips of the vulva will be surgically removed. The incisions are placed in such a way as to make the scars as inconspicuous as possible.

Labia Majora Reduction

This approach reduces excess tissue located on the outer lips of the vulva. In many cases a labia minora reduction will make this procedure unnecessary, and Dr. Zeff will provide guidance as to whether this option is ideal for your needs and goals.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

Excess skin that hangs over the clitoris can be trimmed. This technique can enhance sexual sensation as well as improve the aesthetic appeal of the area.

What Is Recovery from Labiaplasty Like?

Many women are concerned about the pain level they should expect following vaginal rejuvenation. This is a sensitive area, and discomfort should be expected. It improves but can last for many weeks. Dr. Zeff typically utilizes dissolvable stitches to close the incisions. Additionally, medication will be provided to enhance your comfort while healing. We recommend that you take four to five days to rest and recover before returning to work. You should also limit sitting for about two weeks, or as long as our physician advises. Activities that cause direct pressure to the area, such as cycling and sexual intercourse, should be avoided for at least six weeks. Swelling is normal, and this effect will fade over time. Once the final outcome is achieved, you should feel confident wearing the clothes and participating in the activities you love.
