Post-Bariatric and Weight Loss Body Contouring
Losing a significant amount of weight, either through personal choices and dedication or through bariatric surgery, is a tremendous accomplishment. Now that the weight is gone, however, you may find that your body contour is not quite as you desired. Fortunately, there are cosmetic options available from our extensively trained plastic surgeon that can help to address the excess skin that often results from losing a large amount of weight. Dr. Anthony Wilson offers a number of body contouring procedures that can help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Each one is tailored to suit your needs and expressed wishes.

Excess skin on the arms can be addressed with a procedure known as a brachioplasty, or arm lift surgery. With this technique, inelastic skin can be removed and the remainder can be tightened to provide a smoother, firmer, and more toned appearance. In some cases, some liposuction may be necessary to achieve the optimal outcome. The length of the incision will depend on your unique anatomical needs and goals. During your initial consultation, Dr. Wilson will discuss his approach based on your customized treatment plan.
Medically referred to as an abdominoplasty, tummy tuck surgery is designed to trim excess skin on the abdomen and tighten the underlying muscles and tissues that can become loose with time, weight gain, or pregnancy. Dr. Wilson will create an incision low on the stomach and remove excess skin and, in many cases, a small amount of excess fat as needed. If necessary, the muscles will be tightened to create a flatter stomach. The belly button will be repositioned to create the most natural appearance possible.
Excess skin on the thighs can make it hard to see the results of your weight loss. A thigh lift can make it easier to find well-fitting clothes and exercise comfortably. Similar to an arm lift, the inelastic skin on the thighs will be lifted and trimmed using well-placed incisions. As with the other body contouring procedures, some liposuction may help to enhance the benefits of your treatment.
Posterior (Buttock) Lift
Weight loss affects everyone a little differently, particularly in the buttock area. Patients who have excess skin in this region may consider undergoing a buttock lift, with or without techniques to enhance the contour and volume of the derriere. Some individuals may prefer that some fatty tissue be added back to create a shapely physique. Your cosmetic goals and anatomic needs will determine the treatment plan that Dr. Wilson recommends, and liposuction, body contouring, and fat grafting can be utilized to achieve a smoother and more flattering backside.
