At our New England practice, our plastic surgeon offers a selection of state-of-the-art cosmetic injectables to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and to achieve a more youthful appearance. BOTOX^® Cosmetic

BOTOX Cosmetic is a natural, purified protein produced by the clostridium botulinum bacterium. BOTOX Cosmetic injections are administered in particular areas of the face where hyper-functional muscles cause facial lines to form, thereby relaxing these muscles and smoothing the lines.

BOTOX Cosmetic is a simple treatment that relaxes lines for up to six months. Our patients report significant improvement in the appearance of bothersome expression lines, such as the creases between the eyebrows and the crow’s feet around the eyes. For many patients, BOTOX Cosmetic is as important for prevention of lines as it is for facial rejuvenation therapy.

Although there are a number of possible adverse reactions, they are rare and unusual, and they are best discussed with our expert injectors during a BOTOX Cosmetic consultation.

Dysport^®

Also a neuromodulator, Dysport shares many characteristics and benefits with BOTOX Cosmetic. Dysport minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily halting excess muscle movement that can cause creases. Dysport is most commonly administered to areas along the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes (crow’s feet). Additionally, this product can help soften wrinkles around the nose, mouth, and lower face. Our extensively trained plastic surgeon and nurse injectionist will identify the ideal locations to deliver the formula to achieve noticeably younger-looking skin and a natural-looking outcome. As with BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport typically lasts between three and six months, and the effects can be extended with occasional “touch-up” treatments.

Q: How long do BOTOX^® Cosmetic results last?
A: BOTOX injection results generally last three to six months.

Q: Is the treatment painful?
A: Discomfort related to the injections is minimal. No anesthesia is needed, and the procedure generally takes about 10 minutes. Most people return directly to work after a BOTOX injection. Results begin to appear in a few days, and the treatment reaches its fullest effect in about a week.

Q: Is BOTOX^® Cosmetic right for you?
A: Any image-conscious man or woman 18 to 65 years of age and concerned about the appearance of frown lines may be a good candidate for the BOTOX Cosmetic treatment.
