Which Cosmetic Injectable Is Right For Me?

When you consider all the potential benefits of cosmetic injectables, it’s easy to see why they’re so popular. As some of the most widely performed non-surgical cosmetic procedures, injectables can create a youthful, refreshed facial aesthetic when administered by a professional injector. They’re also extremely versatile and can combat various types of age-related blemishes, from dynamic wrinkles to nasolabial folds to loss of lip collagen and more.

At our practice, we’re fortunate to have Dr. Richard Zeff, Cindy Wrocklage, RN, Heather Galinha, RN, and Claudia Michel, RN on hand to perform cosmetic injectable treatments. Our staff has undergone advanced training in the administration of injectables and acquired years of experience in choosing the correct type of injectable to meet their patients’ individual goals. If you are unsure which injectable is right for you, continue reading for an in-depth comparison of our options.

If you suffer from dynamic facial wrinkles (i.e. wrinkles that are caused by repetitive facial movements, such as frown or laugh lines), you may be a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic. Its primary ingredient, botulinum toxin, can be used to relax the muscles that cause these wrinkles and render them temporarily unable to contract. Our other neuromodulators, Dysport® and XEOMIN®, are chemically very similar to BOTOX Cosmetic; however, they are typically only used to address furrows between the eyebrows or on the forehead (also known as “glabellar lines”). Our neuromodulators all generally last between three to six months before another treatment session is necessary, though the exact amount of time can vary between patients.

In addition to our neurotoxin-based injectables, we offer the following dermal fillers and collections:

  • JUVÉDERM®
  • The Revance® RHA® Collection of Dermal Fillers
  • Revanesse® Versa™ and Revanesse® Lips™+
  • Restylane®

These fillers are primarily composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally within the human body. Designed to emulate hyaluronic acid’s ability to aid in collagen and elastin production, dermal fillers can restore volume to various areas of the face, not limited to the cheeks, midfacial region, and lips. They can be an excellent choice for patients who have lost collagen or elastin due to age, as well as those who want to enhance their appearance without surgery.

So which of these injectables is your best choice? The best way to find out is to visit our office for a one-on-one consultation. Your injector will evaluate your skin and cosmetic goals and thoroughly explain each injectable before helping you make a decision.
