What Can I Expect After Liposuction?

Following liposuction, you will be able to return home the same day as your operation. Before you leave, the staff will go over any instructions and discuss what to expect during the recovery period once more to ensure you understand. Some bruising, swelling, and numbness in the treated area is to be expected; however, your discomfort should be minimal. Dr. Zeff will prescribe medication to help manage your pain, which should be easily controlled. Your comfort is of primary concern for us, and we strive to make this experience as easy and pleasant as possible.

A special compression garment should be worn for a number of days or weeks to help reduce recovery time and speed healing; the length of time will be determined by Dr. Zeff. We will schedule regular check-ups to ensure you’re healing properly and discuss any concerns or questions you may have. In many cases, you may be able to return to work after approximately one week, depending on your rate of healing and comfort level.  Normal activity can be resumed fairly early following liposuction.
