How to Treat Sagging Facial Skin

Over time, mostly due to the natural aging process, the facial skin can begin to weaken and loosen, creating an appearance of sagging or drooping. There are a variety of methods and techniques that patients can utilize to significantly reduce the amount of sagging skin one is experiencing. Our board-certified plastic surgeon Richard Zeff, MD leads a New Hampshire practice where he and his team offer an entire catalog of cosmetic and restorative techniques that can restore one’s body to a younger and more vibrant form. Regarding drooping or sagging facial skin, Dr. Zeff primarily utilizes a surgical facelift, Renuvion® skin tightening, and/or a “liquid facelift.”

At your initial consultation, Dr. Zeff and our team will be able to better determine which treatment is best for you. Each of the aforementioned treatments are proudly offered by Dr. Zeff, and are sometimes coupled together for enhanced results. Keep reading to find out about the primary treatments used to treat sagging facial skin.

Facelift Surgery

Facelift surgery can be the ideal solution for those who have sagging facial skin and who are willing to undergo a surgical procedure. A facelift can lift and eliminate excess skin, resulting in a smoother appearance. By tightening the folds that have become loose over time, the face can be returned to a more youthful and rejuvenated look. Utilizing specific incisions, Dr. Zeff achieves this tightening effect in the muscle and skin layers. This innovative process allows for more natural-looking results.

Renuvion® Skin Tightening

Renuvion® skin tightening can be used to firm and tighten facial skin that has begun to sag. This form of skin tightening is a minimally invasive procedure that is also known as J-Plasma. By manipulating plasma energy, Dr. Zeff is able to heat the underlying skin, thereby tightening and recontouring soft tissue that has begun to droop. This treatment also avoids the need for surgery.

Liquid Facelift

Other patients may choose to utilize dermal fillers to lift the sagging skin and recontour the shape of their face. A liquid facelift combines multiple types of dermal fillers to achieve temporary results similar to a facelift while avoiding the need of surgery. However, the results from a surgical facelift cannot be duplicated. A liquid facelift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses innovative injectable products that can firm and tighten one’s facial skin.
